ready for the slave Auction...er uh...NBA draft

No no let me stop hahaha.  But honestly, this is exciting.

Last year, after drafting Joakim Noah with the 9th pick and a dissapointing season with a 33-49 record Chicago snuck in and got the first pick with a 1.7% chance (i wonder how much John Paxon had to pay david stern for it but...we will never know).  Hopefully they'll take Derrick Rose the hometown boy.  Simeon's Finest.  Chicago Stand UP

check out the young man in high school

Speaking of the NBA Drafts and the name Rose...lets get to the important part.  The Suits.  Best Draft day suit ever...jalen Rose

CLASSIC!

stay tuned for the wrap up

comedy heaven open up the gates!

Shouts to Ayo for the info, unfortunately one of my favorite comedians george carlin died this morning of heart failure at 71.  Carlin was the definition of the postmodern comic, critiquing everything we "civilized" people do from religion to fashion.  According to comedy central he is second only to Richard Pryor (r.i.p) in terms of the best stand up comedians of all time...and i agree.

he will definitely be missed...but never forgotten

if you've never seen or heard him, you need to, and here's one of his most famous routines about the absurdity of christianity

my nigga (yea i said it)

No surprise that NAS is one of my favorite emcees.  I've never been dissapointed by anything he's done (no i dont count QB's finest because that was a collaboration).  I liked nastradamus and will point out at least 6 tracks on there that can be put in the cannon of great hip hop song...but all that asside.  The controversy about his new album originally called NIGGER has been crazy.  He retitled it N and its still gonna be dope.  In the words of WALE "i hope yall can understand the undertonage in the message" that Nas is sending.

That being said the video for his first single is out and... i love it.

It takes a scene out of one of my favorite movies; 25th hour (starring my all time favorite actor Edward Norton).  The scene's pretty powerful within it self

in poor taste

highsnobiety - ron english obama poster

I'm sure they they thought of combining the likeness of Barak Obama and Abraham Lincoln it seemed like a good idea for a tee shirt.  Alas, anybody who knows the legacy of old "honest abe" would see how this is problematic this is.  Maybe I'm thinking too much about this, maybe they purpose is some irony.  But, if the purpose is to liken one to the other... its like combining Bill O'Reilly and Lupe Fiasco. If you don't get it...do the knowledge, starting here

RIP

Yves Saint Laurent stands outside his ready-to-wear boutique on Bond Street in London in 1969.

Today the fashion world lost one of its finest.  Designer Yves Saint Laurent passed away today at age 71 at his home in Paris.  If you don't know, this man revolutionized women's pants proving that they could be sexy.  For 50 years this man was one of the best designers in the world and anyone who claims to be familiar with fashion should have at least one YSL piece in their closet...

His presence in the fashion industry will certainly be missed

simple as algebrea

If you haven't heard her by now, you've been missing out long enough.  R&B artist Algebra Blessett is major.  I first heard mention of her on an interlude to musiq's soulstar album and when i heard the name again i made the connection.  first song i heard was nothing to proove back in 2006 and id been waiting since then for the album...it dropped in April and I haven't taken it out of the car or out of frequent rotation on my ipod since.

Her new single run and hide has a video out and i think it's pretty good

I think maybe im diggin this song so much because it seems like the soundtrack for my life right now...just to let yall in

maybe they didn't get the memo...

I caught wind of this brand called N4E1 (not for everyone) and I thought this shirt was cute...

kinda cool right?! i thought so...cause ya know i figure; if you're gonna pop your collar...you should do it in style and say

but i checked some of their new stuff and i saw a clever but highly outdated shirt

kinda clever to have all the foreign currency and stock exchange symbols on there but...all over prints are sooooo 2003...if it was 2003 it would be the hottest thing ever...but its not.

psycho T

So he's a picture of NCAA player of the year Tyler Hansboro jumping off of the balcony of his frat house into a "shallow above ground pool."  Some have been wondering what he was thinking seeing that he would risk his "basketball career" by hurting himself pulling this "silly stunt.  Well its simple!  Tyler Hansboro is no "ghetto kid looking for a way out of the hood."  He has the luxury of enjoying his college experience because he doesn't have to make a living with his body.  He is in no rush to enter the NBA and make money.  His dad's an orthopedic surgeon and his moms a former pageant queen.  When he graduates next year; he's have a DEGREE from NORTH CAROLINA (in communication but none the less).  That means...he's gonna be making 6 figures whether he gets drafted into the NBA or not.  So he might not make millions; he doesn't need them...he already has them so let the man enjoy his life.  Plus this is the same kind of kamikaze that everyone love when he's on the court...so we shouldn't expect anything less of him in the rest of his life.  all I know is I WOULD HATE TO BE HIS GIRLFRIEND...if he has the same recklessness and aggression with his undermuscle.  From what i heard, his personal best is 53 seconds and he's been trying to beat it for sometime now...just seems like a messy situation

WARNING: Yet ANOTHER good girl gone bad!

YUP! MICHELLE WILLIAM'S TURNED TO THE DARK SIDE TOO and so far, all the chicks we've known to cross over have taken their careers to a new height and I'm REALLY hoping that it does something for MS. WILLIAMS' career as we know it. Her new album "Unexpected" is EXPECTED to drop on August the 12th of 2008 featuring her new single "We Break the Dawn" and I don't think she's breakin' it for Jesus this time around either. The song isn't that GREAT OR "that" bad BUT she's def. trying to reach out to a completely diff. crowd [like her first solo attempt] with the electronic/techno feel. So IN SUMMATION, she's on her Chris Brown steeze by trying to reach out to the "majority" clubs AND on her Kelly Rowland by writing a song about the sunrise and daylight and what not...let's just hope this one goes over better than THAT shit.

THAT'S RIGHT CHELLE'S...POSE FOR THE LAWD!

SPEAKING of Ms. Kelly, she digitally re-released her album "Ms. Kelly: Diva Deluxe"
and that's all I have to say about that.

Either way way...way to rep ILLInoise Em Dub.
