The word is...Obama won South Carolina.  With 99 percent of the precincts reporting, he has 55%, with Clinton in 2nd with 27% and Edwards with 18%.  Wowzers, if he's winning by this great a margin...he doesn't NEED my vote. hahahahahaha

I'm a Chicagoaaaan 'til Chicago eeeends...

Chicago, ILLINOIS that is. Yeah well, I love Chicago and even if I don't want to claim ALL of Chicago :ahem: SOUTHERN ILLINOIS where the KKK roams free (pregnant pause), Illinois is still a pretty dope area so I wanna give love to...

KERRY VITALI for creating Practically Necessary, hailing fromOak Park, Illinois, Vitali creates these limited-edition apron jump-offs along with custom ones made from your own personal collectibles, can you say AWESOME?! I can. The only reason K.V. is getting love from me is NOT only because of the pretty colors and patterns but because yours truly MELISSA T. is trying to learn how to cook and I like to look good as often as possible so why not in the KITCHEN as well? You can check out Vitali's collection at practiallynecessary .com

And after you order yours, here's a recipe for you to use so you can de-virginize your apron:

1 Hr 50 Min
SERVINGS & SCALING
Original recipe yield: 12 servings

INGREDIENTS
20 lasagna noodles
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
1 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 cups fresh spinach
3 cups ricotta cheese
2/3 cup grated Romano cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 egg
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3 cups tomato pasta sauce
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook mushrooms, onions, and garlic in olive oil until onions are tender. Drain excess liquid and cool. Boil spinach for 5 minutes. Drain, then squeeze out excess liquid. Chop spinach.
Combine ricotta cheese, Romano cheese, spinach, salt, oregano, basil, pepper, and egg in a bowl. Add cooled mushroom mixture. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute. Lay 5 lasagna noodles in bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread one third of the cheese/spinach mixture over noodles. Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella cheese and 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese on top. Spread 1 cup spaghetti sauce over cheese. Repeat layering 2 times.
Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven for 1 hour. Cool 15 minutes before serving.

Happy eating! :-D

rumble young man rumble

So i'm watching the Australian open because i love tennis (ye' aint know?). Anyway i'm watching this 22 year old frenchman Jo-Wilfred Tsonga just dominate Nadal (the #2 ranked player in the world) in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, 6-2...so i mean Dominate.

Somebody did a mario tennis recreation of the match and...its hella accurate!

It might be considered racist because the black guy is portrayed as a big gorilla but consider this, its more about how he overpowers his opponents. Hes 6'0" 210lbs. Thats huge for a tennis player; thats the size of an NFL running back! Nadal played a good match, only 12 unforced errors but...its hard to for even the #2 ranked player in the world to survive 17 aces (including a brilliant one for match point). But yea...they've compared him to a young Ali because of the way he looks...
i see it a bit because this forehand does look like a right hook...but regardless...the kid is amazing and i look forward to seeing him in the finals

"Give me the luxuries of life and I will willingly do without the necessities"

-Frank Lloyd Wright

Couldn't have said it better myself! I don't know if you guys watch the WEATHER CHANNEL or weather.com the ENTIRE nation but if you DIDN'T know, it's cold as HELL in Chicago. I mean 4 degrees "FEELS LIKE" -12? What kind of shit is THAT? So while Charity is down in College Station b.k.a. LAMESVILLE, Texas ridin' her LOW rider and what not I'm up here unable to match a DAMNED thing to my black furry Minnetonka boots (word to DSW) cause I have no CHOICE, every morning it's a question of whether or not I would like to keep my toes in safe keeping and the answer is always YES (SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST BABY). So I check my e-mail this morning and get a msg. from a catalogue I subscribe to that's prices are waaaaaay waaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my range and the e-mail subject is, GET RESORT READY and ooooh how I would like to so here's a few pieces I found that I ADORED and would get if I COULD get, if a would chuck could chuck wood ;-) Take a peek:

We're not a gossip blog but...

IT'S OVER...YOU DON'T HAVE TO WEAR THE SAME COLORS ANYMORE!!!

these pics are of Kelly && Beyonce' K. at a Versace show on the 12th [HENCE the reason smsidk doesn't DO the whole "gossp" theme, cuz I'm late as HELL] but GEEZE LOU-EEZE don't these hoes get TIRED of this? Personally that would have been the MAIN reason I would leave a singing group who MATCHES anymore? Like...they're not even getting PAID to do it so why even ruin your image, KELLY, by acting like you can't think for yourself, first this? Then that SUPER weak single you just dropped...what's next? THE KELIS HAIR CUT? ffffrick!

note: B is still my b!tch [cuz I adore business women] and Kelly DOES look ultra pretty...but STILL! [THAT'S ANOTHER REASON SMSIDK CAN'T GOSSIP BLOG CAUSE WE JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO HATE CORRECTLY AND NOBODY LIKES A GOSSIPER WHO CAN FIND THE GOOD IN EVERYBUDDY]

Now back to your regularly scheduled program

I referenced the boondocks, and I'll do it again today! Last night's episode "the S word" was easily my favorite this season...do we have a clip? Oooh, we have the whole episode. Enjoy

Why is this my favorite episode; because I remember when this ACTUALLY HAPPENED, and they way they portrayed the teacher...BRILLIANT. Again...lets go to the clip! Check how the english teacher kept his grammar on point "Can you lend a nigga a pencil"

Honestly though...I think that in future generations, the debate over this word will go the way of the dinosaur...talk amongst yourselves.

do you still believe?

Dr. King's last speech (the night before he died)

IIn that speech Dr. King spoke like a man that knew his time here on earth was limited, but one who had faith in the ability of people to make change...have we disappointed him?

The observation of Martin Luther King Jr's birthday is upon us again; and that's about all I can really say. Of course there will be breakfasts and marches and symposiums about "the dream" and the man in all honesty, for most people, tomorrow just signals a 3 day weekend where most people will take the opportunity to indulge in their vices for an extra day before returning to the "grind." What does this have to do with "the dream?" In all honesty, I think that those still trying to make this dream come true should celebrate the legacy of Dr. King by working harder...not by taking a day off. Tyranny doesn't take a day off, fascism, racism, sexism, classism, bigotry, elitism...they don't take a day off, so if you're fighting those things; you shouldn't either. I honestly think the holiday should be repealed but that's a whole nother blog for a whole nother time. But as always I will issue the readers a challenge for this holiday. Educate yourselves; learn about the Dr. King and the people who helped him in his endeavors who are never even mentioned. Not taking away from him, but nobody achieves greatness alone. Also, listen to some of his speeches and read some of his letters. Besides being a wonderful orator and writer, his views are wonderful. Also read about Dr. King. He has a legacy now, so people have begun to demystify him AS WE SHOULD.

Really I'm challenging you to just be productive if you really want to honor the legacy of Dr. King

~Charity

its just as much true as it is funny
